Litigation funders Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of claims from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) concerning talc products in exchange for a percentage of any wins. J&J is now offering an offer of $8.9 billion to settle all lawsuits.

The involvement of funders is made public because of an New Jersey court rule requiring the disclosure of certain information about outside funding backers.
