April 12 2023 Update: Many are asking how J&J can go through bankruptcy once more. The answer is complicated and confusing. But let’s try to explain it clearly.
Johnson & Johnson asserts that bankruptcy is the only option to address both present and future talc-related lawsuits definitively. Despite the legal jargon, J&J does not really think this bankruptcy will survive. But it’s a way of trying to push this $8.9 billion settlement through and maintain pressure on plaintiffs.
April 10, 2023 Update: Bloomberg provides an insightful article on a new law that has been passed in New Jersey that is shedding new light on the funding of litigation in the suit for class actions.
