April 13th, 2023 Update: The most important news is the $8.9 billion over 25 years offer for settlement. The hyperbole wasn’t spared: victims’ lawyers call it the most significant “fraudulent move ever in United States history.”

Notwithstanding the legal mumbo jumbo, J&J does not really think that the bankruptcy will endure. But it’s a way to try and push the $8.9 billion settlement, and to keep the pressure on plaintiffs.

Funders of litigation Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of claims against Johnson & Johnson (J&J) on behalf of talc products.
